Training Plans
Below are training plans from participating pilot project churches. These are being shared for the purpose of gleaning ideas from one another. Keep in mind that each congregation is unique, and therefore training plans will be unique. There is no ideal training plan for everyone.
Participating Church Comments
The first week with my buddy was a little rough. I felt like I had little clue what I was doing as a buddy and honestly felt like a failure. He is more active and not long into the first class he darted for the door. Now after a few weeks of class, we are getting more settled. His parents are helping me learn more about how to interact with their son and what to expect of him. I am also trying to apply suggestions from his S.S. teacher and the Buddy Tips Sheet. One of the sweetest moments was one day when the class was doing a matching card activity. It was his turn and one of his classmates helped him turn over the cards. Another great moment was when he was able to do the motions with the Simplify It! Booklet Bible verse. He loved watching Ms. Faith do the motions to the verse in the interactive Simplify It! Booklet. We try to focus on what he CAN do and enjoy celebrating what he is learning about the Bible.
